The National Commission on Culture and the Arts, led by Executive Director Rico Pableo with official Renee Talavera and UP Mindanao professor John Bengan, announced their call for proposals in a press conference in Davao City on July 24.
According to Director Pableo, the call is for organizations, local government units, agencies, schools, and individuals to organize or create artistic and cultural projects in 2018 which the NCCA will fund through grants from the National Endowment Fund for Culture and the Arts.
The fund grants are provided to encourage projects in the various arts and cultural enterprises that can contribute to the NCCA vision of "Filipino culture as the wellspring of national and global well being (Bukal ng pambansa at pandaigdigang kagalingan ang kalinangang Filipino)".
U.P. Mindanao professor John Bengan, president of the Davao Writers Guild and regional representative to the National Committee on Literary Arts, enumerated the literary projects qualified for funding support, namely: national and regional creative writing workshops; module design and training for literature teachers of senior and junior high schools; the printing of a completed research or the staging of a completed stage play; a ManunULAT-documentation of literary artists and their work through a video-documentary; and the Project Pangga literary conference, seminar, exhibit or performance focusing on under-represented sectors such as persons with disablilities or indigenous peoples.
The deadline for the submission of proposals is August 31.
