The UP Mindanao Office of Student Affairs, through Guidance Services Specialist Remigio Domingo, successfully delivered the lecture forum on "Coping with the Better Normal and Addressing Depression and Anxiety" on February 26, 2024, at the CHSS Mini Theatre.

Dr. Abegail Lozada-Laganao, Chairperson of the Institute of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Southern Philippines Medical Center and a UPMin alumna, served as the resource speaker. The forum delved into the intricacies of sustaining well-being in the "Better Normal," the post-pandemic environment. Dr. Lozada-Laganao shed light on the persistent challenges posed by anxiety and depression for individuals to build resilience. She discussed strategies and mechanics to effectively cope with mental health issues and achieve improved mental well-being.

Chancellor Lyre Anni Murao opened the forum by sharing her own experiences relating to the mental health environment. Faculty members, students, and personnel participated by fostering a collaborative atmosphere for addressing aspects of mental health in the pursuit of a better normalcy.

UPMin constituents and service providers are invited to the Lecture-Forum on "Coping with the Better Normal and Addressing Depression and Anxiety," to be held on Monday, February 26, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., at the CHSS Mini-Theater, Administration Building, UP Mindanao, Mintal, Davao City. Dr. Abegail Lozada-Laganao, a Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatrist, is the guest speaker.      

The Leture-Forum objectives are: (a) to continuously sustain ourselves in a better normal setting; (b) to understand further why anxiety and depression frequently strike us despite our efforts to be resilient; (c) common strategies and mechanisms to cope and to achieve better mental well-being. Our overall goal is to sustain our effectiveness, efficiency, and efficacy as we continue our work/study to serve our current and future clientele in the University as well as in our community.
