The DOST-supported LiDAR river basin hazard-mapping research program will hold its 4th Phil-LiDAR 1 Mindanao Cluster Conference and Press Conference on September 7-9 in Davao City. The Press Conference takes place on Sept. 7, 4:20 PM at World Palace Business Center. Project Leaders Joseph Acosta, Enrico Paringit, and Mark Edwin Tupas will provide an Introduction and Overview of the Phil-LiDAR program and on the Data Archiving and Distribution and Intellectual Property Rights.
The Mindanao Cluster Conference begins on Sept. 8 at Brokenshire Convention Center with messages from UP Mindanao Chancellor Sylvia Concepcion, DOST-XI Director Anthony Sales and City Mayor Sara Duterte. At 9:30AM is the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the sustainability of the program after the end of the research and mapping component between the LiDAR group and the Dept. of Agriculture (DA), Dept. of Science and Technology, National Irrigation Administration (NIA), and the Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRM). Disaster Operationalization Plans will be presented by officials of DA, NIA, Davao del Norte DRRM, Davao City Central 911, and Agro-Industrial Fdn. College, and a talk will be given on the LiDAR Portal Archiving and Distribution. A map-turnover ceremony will be held where maps for the Talomo Watershed will be turned over to Davao City, Lasang Watershed to Davao City and Panabo City, and Padada Watershed to Kiblawan, Sulop, Padada, Matanao, and Hagonoy municipalities.
On Sept. 9 will be the project reporting by the Mindanao cluster composed of Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Central Mindanao University, Caraga State University, Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, and UP Mindanao.
