Collection of student fees deferred, 2017

UP Mindanao deferred until August 25 its collection of student fees. The deferred payment schedule is in line with the memo issued by UP President Danilo L. Concepcion last July 31 on the guidelines for the assessment and collection of tuition and other fees for the 1st Semester of 2017-2018. The memo called for the use of the Scholarships and Financial Assistance (SFA) Online Application, which includes the Free Tuition 2017, Socialized Tuition System (STS), and Tulong-Dunong Program for 2017-2018 in the “assessment of tuition and other fees, and in providing financial support to students from low-income households.”

Pres. Danilo Concepcion’s July 31 memo superseded the memorandum issued last July 28 by UP Mindanao Chancellor Sylvia Concepcion. Chancellor Concepcion’s memo for the deferment of “assessment and collection of student fees…until instruction from UP System is received” was made in preparation for the August 1-2 registration period.

Around 634 of the expected 700 incoming students for the 1st Semester of 2017-2018 applied to the SFA Online application. Of this number, 373 students applied for both free tuition subsidy, STS and Tulong-Dunong. About 261 students applied for STS only.

Results of the application will be released before 25 August 2017, the deadline for the collection of assessed fees.

The UP System plans to open the SFA Online Website for those who were not able to apply.
