Banwa is a peer-reviewed multidisciplinary journal published biannually by the University of the Philippines Mindanao. The journal is devoted to promoting scholarship and insightful debate by publishing a broad range of critical and scholarly articles, research reports, reviews, short notes, lectures, policy statements, and advocacies across the various disciplines, written by both emerging and established scholars, local and international. This special issue of Banwa on IP and area studies of the greater Davao region is open to any current studies on societies, histories, and cultures of the area. Deadline and Paper Requirements: Original papers not previously published elsewhere, except in a preliminary form, or are not being considered for publication anywhere may be submitted to the journal. Following the format and the order of presentation, the article should be about 5,000 words or 20 pages, inclusive of photos, graphs, tables, and illustrations. Paper should include (1) a 150- to 200-word abstract, (2) a list of 8 keywords maximum, and (3) a list of abbreviations used in the article. Although each discipline has its own requirements for the presentation of the data, the following sequence is suggested for the body: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgment, Notes, and References. The journal has adapted the ASHS Publications Style Manual. PDF available for download at For more information about submission and format guidelines, please visit the Banwa Online Journal System at or contact the desk/production editor thru telefax (082)293-1839. Authors should submit electronic copy of the manuscript, as well as the other submission requirements, through e-mail at . Use “Submission:” followed by the title of the article as subject of the e-mail. The deadline for submission is June 15, 2010. Up to 12 original papers will be selected and included in the double issue of Banwa to be published in 2010. Works submitted after the deadline are most welcome, but will probably see print in future issues of the journal.
