"Banana Flour and Cake Production: A Livelihood Training for IP-women at UP Laak Land Reservation" was held on 15-16 August 2017 in Kidawa National High School in Bgy. Kidawa, Laak Municipality, Compostela Valley Province.
The training modules were in food safety, banana flour production and banana cake production that were shared by experts Ms. Dyle Legaspi (BS Food Technology 2016, cl) and Ms. Marilou Alagao.
The 35-plus participants to the training, organized by UP Mindanao Land Management Officer Joel Sagadal, are mostly women of the resident Dibabawon indigenous peoples community.
The community recently benefited from a training seminar in basic cacao production in partnership with the Dept. of Agriculture Cacao Double-Up Program.
The UP Land Reservation in the area, identified through Presidential Proclamation 1252, mandates UP Mindanao to contribute to development of the 2,800-hectare area through "research, extension, instruction, forest rehabilitation and protection, bio-diversity conservation, crops and livestock production and management, including upland communities training."
