The UP Mindanao Center for the Advancement of Research in Mindanao (CARIM) invites the interested public to a webinar on 23 February 2022 (1:00 to 4:30 PM) as part of the 27th UP Mindanao Anniversary Celebration. Shown below are the two back-to-back events of the webinar:
- Part 1 Towards Creating Impacts: UP Mindanao-Funded Research Series 1 of 2022; and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics
- Part 2 Launching of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics R&D Flagship Programs of UP Mindanao
The first part of the program will highlight the research presentation of Asst. Prof. LEO MANUEL B. ESTAÑA entitled “Yellow Saddle Goatfish Algorithm - Optimized Uncapacitated Facility Location Problem,” which is funded by UP Mindanao’s Research Grant, also known as the In-House grant. He will present the relevant results, insights, implications, and possible projects that will sustain the initial work they have done involving stakeholders, particularly the local governments and public organizations in their project sites. For the second part, UP Mindanao will launch its two (2) flagship programs on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics. Prof. JOSE ILDEFONSO U. RUBRICO, the Program Leader of these major programs, will deliver his talk/lecture entitled: “Empowering the Filipino Nation: Flagship R&D Programs for AI and Robotics Innovation and Capability-Building at the Grassroots.” The relevance and potential of developing emerging technologies under these programs as well as its multitude of applications in our day-to-day lives by and for the Filipinos may be the first of this kind and magnitude in the country.
