Through Chancellor Lyre Murao, UP Mindanao declared full support for the Mindanao Declaration on Excellence and Equity in Public Higher Education, signed on September 15, 2023, at the first UP-State Universities & Colleges Summit in Davao City.

"UPMin has organized or joined regional consortiums, but UPMin is always open to new relationships with other SUCs and Higher Education Institutions in Mindanao, in the Philippines, and even in other countries," Chancellor Murao said in a video message at the Summit.

UPMin is the convenor of the Mindanao Genomics Consortium, which has more than 30 academic, government, health, and industry institutions throughout Mindanao.

In addition, UPMin has created networks for innovation and startups, such as the IDEAS - Davao consortium, which held the Davao Startup Week on 11-17 September in Davao City.

The Mindanao Declaration stated the urgency of the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the need to bring about the Fifth Industrial Revolution of reducing and preventing waste, forging sustainability, merging technologies, and the well-being of stakeholders.

"We are stronger and more effective through the sharing of expertise, resources, and opportunities," stated the Declaration.
