UP Mindanao's Professor May Anne Mata and student-athletes were recognized in the UP System's "Pagkilala sa Fakulti, REPS, Kawani, at Mag-aaral na Nagtamo ng Pambansa o Internasyonal na Rekognisyon" in ceremonies held on June 13, 2024, in UP Diliman.
Prof. Mata of the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science was recognized for being the DOST PCHRD National Winner and Mindanao Cluster Winner of the 2023 Best Mentor in Health Research Award (Graduate Students Category).
Student Kristine Madeline Ibag (2-AA in Sports Studies) was honored for being a six-time Gold Medalist in both the Single Fita and the Olympic Round categories of the 2022 Philippine National Archery Games, the 16th Philippine Archery Cup Leg 3, and the Philippine National Games 2023.
Student Glennon Jhon Malisa (3-Bachelor of Sports Science) was recognized for being a Gold Medalist in the Double Stick category of the 16th World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation World Championship Philippines.
Student Kaye Louren L. Famulagan (3-Bachelor of Sports Science) was honored as a Gold Medalist in the Arnis Padded Stick Event Bantamweight Category at the Philippine National Games 2023.
The Pagkilala is in line with UP's 116th-anniversary celebration, which has the theme "Hayag: Pagpupugay sa Lingkod Bayan 2024."
