Bahay Kubo Project Launched

The UP Mindanao Office of Student Affairs opened the Bahay Kubo Project to students on February 29, 2024. The Bahay Kubo, located beside the Elias B. Lopez Hall dormitory, aims to help the dormitory residents by providing a sustainable food source and facility on campus where they can propagate vegetables, store food, and cook meals.

UP Mindanao Chancellor Lyre Anni Murao and Science Research Specialist Raymund Antiola of the Department of Agriculture cut the ribbon to officially open the project, initiated by OSA Director Maria Stella Salazar. The UP Ugnayan ng Pahinungod - Cebu team, led by Prof. Aurelio Vilbar, attended the launching as guests and expressed their support for the Project.

The Bahay Kubo keys were handed over to EBL Hall Resident Student Council Chairperson Jela Dumaguin (BA English).
The Bahay Kubo Project is being undertaken in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, the UPMin Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, the UPMin Office of Extension and Community Service, and the ever-supportive alumni--in particular, the UP Alumni Association-New York.
