BSFT grads pass first Food Tech Licensure Exams
The UPMin Department of Food Science and Chemistry (DFSC) reported that five BS Food Technology graduates passed the first-ever Food Technology Licensure Examination, with a Top Ten passer, and UP Mindanao emerging among the Top 3 performing schools.
Ms. Abbie Glenn M. Estribillo, BSFT 2015, was an 8th-Placer in the Exam. She was followed by fellow BSFT alumni and successful examinees Mr. Bryle Matthew F. Bacatan, Ms. Ara Nikka Faith E. Bangcaya, Mr. Jherson B. Gutierrez, and Ms. Angela Timothy P. Serrano.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) reported 453 passers out of 1,133 examinees, or a 39.98% national passing rate.
The PRC recognized UP Mindanao among the Top 3 performing schools for having 5 passers and an 83.33% overall passing percentage.
The exams were conducted on August 10-11, 2023, at testing centers in NCR, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Rosales, and Zamboanga.
The newly-licensed Food Technologists brought pride to the DFSC and the UP Mindanao community, and their achievement addresses the Sustainable Development Goals on Hunger, Good Health and Well-Being, and on Responsible Consumption and Production.
