A BS Biology student’s study on rat parasites won second place at the Society for Parasitology International Conference Oral presentation Competition held at Ateneo de Manila University on June 9-10, 2023.

Kerstine Rain A. Cabrera’s thesis on the “Prevalence of Helminthic Endoparasites of Rattus spp. in Mintal, Davao City, Philippines,”focuses on the various parasites that infest rats, which can aid in developing ways of eradicating them or minimizing the health dangers they pose to humans and other animals.

Her research was under the guidance of her adviser a/Prof. Leif Erikson Gamalo, co-adviser Prof. Aleyla E. De Cadiz, PhD, and panelist Instructor Sherelyn A. Evangelio.
