Some 26 women of Barangay Bago Oshiro, Davao City, received various certificates for participating and completing the short course, "Strategic Planning for Women's Enterprise" from UP Mindanao on March 27.
Among the products created were beaded slippers and accessories, fried lumpia with garlic sauce, artificial flower decor, and woven textile rugs. Visiting Davao City officials Lorna Mandin and Minnie Guevara offered the "Magnegosyo ta, `day" business support program available from the City government.
The course modules were delivered throughout February to March by 16 faculty members and resource persons from UP School of Management, the Office of Gender and Anti-Sexual Harassment, Dept. of Biological Science, Dept. of Humanities, the UP Madayaw Cooperative, and the Office of Extension and Community Service.
Organizational behavior, operations, finance, marketing, and project management were the core modules. Special topics on the development of small enterprises, organizing a cooperative, internet marketing, marketing communications for women’s enterprises, and the impact of business enterprises on the environment, were included.
The free course was offered to celebrate the 22nd University Anniversary in February and the International Women's Month in March.
The School of Management offers customized short-course trainings and a Masters in Management degree that is now open for application.
