Architecture grads achieve 100%-passing in June 2024 LEA

The UP Mindanao Department of Architecture graduates achieved another 100% passing performance in the June 2024 Licensure Examination of Architects (LEA). UPMin produced another 11 licensed architects to contribute to development in Mindanao and elsewhere.   

The newly licensed architects are:

Dean Cruz's appointment as UP Artist renewed

College of Humanities and Social Sciences Dean Prof. Jhoanna Lynn B. Cruz's appointment as UP Artist I was renewed for 2022-2024 by the UP Board of Regents in its 1390th BOR meeting on May 31, 2024. The appointment covers her artistic productivity from January 2019 to December 2021, which includes her memoir "Abi Nako, Or So I Thought" (2020) and the "Tingle Anthology of Pinay Lesbian Writing" (2021), among others. Prof. Cruz is the sole appointee from UP Mindanao and one of three in UPMin history.

THE University of the Philippines Mindanao (UPMin) dominated the Blue Bird Cup 2024, clinching championships in both the men's and women's open divisions at the UP Mindanao Admin Field.

The UPMin Men's Football Varsity Team clinched the men's title by defeating the Aces Football Club, 1-0, behind the goal of Paul Vincent Elises, who was also named the most valuable player (MVP). Teammates Cefie Gabisan and Dadel Oyao were honored as the best midfielder and best defender, respectively.

UPMIN, DCNHS sign agreement for Sports Track

The University of the Philippines Mindanao (UPMin) and the Davao City National High School (DCNHS) signed a memorandum of agreement on May 22, 2024, to implement the sports track program at the said high school. UPMin Chancellor Lyre Anni E. Murao and DCNHS Principal Evelyn E. Magno signed the agreement as heads of their respective schools, while UPMin College of Humanities and Social Science dean, Prof. Jhoanna Lynn Cruz, Department of Human Kinetics (DHK) chairperson, Assistant Professor Jezreel Abarca, and DCNHS’s Maja Michele Alcain served as witnesses to the agreement.

UP Mindanao NSTP and the Associate in Arts in Sports Studies (AASS) Program, through their specialization course in Recreation for Special Groups, organized the 1st UP Mindanao Special Athletics on May 4, 2024, at the DC-UP Sports Complex. Students from Davao City Special School and Tugbok Central Elementary School SPED Center participated in the event.
The Department of Human Kinetics, with NSTP Faculty-in-Charge Krishna Balaga, Bhen Joshua Acosta, and AASS Faculty-in-Charge Prof. Maria Stella Salazar, co-organized the event. The Davao City Special Intervention Center gave active support and involvement in organizing the Special Athletics. Atty. Antoinette Principe-Castrodes served as a resource speaker.

The sports events were the 25-meter run, 50-meter run, 4x25-meter relay, standing long jump, running long jump, softball throw, and tennis ball throw.
