UP Mindanao professors Emma Ruth V. Bayogan and Jose Ildefonso U. Rubrico presented their research updates at the 7th National Research & Development Conference, a hybrid conference co-organized by the DOST and held at the Phil. International Convention Center on September 15-16, 2022.
Prof. Bayogan presented UP Mindanao’s extension program in selected conflict-vulnerable Mindanao villages titled “Improved Livelihood through the LIFE Model.” Farmers' organizations were capacitated, and individual farmers’ incomes increased in the six sites following efforts throughout 2017-2021.
Prof. Rubrico shared the updates from his two Artificial Intelligence research programs, the SkAI-Pinas and ASIMOV-HAWKS. The first program seeks to make existing aerial images available for use by Filipinos. The second aims to develop core technologies for devices that can move on land or air and gather data with minimal human supervision.
