AUSTRALIAN CENTRE FOR INTERNATIONAL AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH officials met UP Mindanao researchers on 09 September 2014 to discuss a presentation of the research "Linking Smallholder Vegetable Producers to High Value Markets: challenges, Experiences, and Lessons of Marketing Clusters in Southern Philippines". Visit of Davao City Sports Chief

Former Philippine Sports Commission Chair and present OIC of the Davao City Sports Development Division Mr. William "Butch" Ramirez was in UP Mindanao on June 4, 2014 to meet university officials and explore opportunities for sports development in partnership with UP. He was received by Vice Chancellor for Administration Antonio Obsioma and the meeting was hosted by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. In the discussions that followed, the participants were Dept of Human Kinetics Chair Prof. Armando Salazar with faculty member Ms. Jezreel Abarca, College of Humanities and Social Sciences Dean Stella Salazar, Vice Chancellor Obsioma, Office of Extension and Community Service Director Prof. Erwin Protacio with Mr. Michael Gatela, College Business Manager Ms. Cherrylyn Cabrera, and Land Management Officer Mr. Joel Sagadal. The discussion revolved on the possible organizational arrangements for the contemplated sports programs. Mr. Ramirez likewise was able to pay a courtesy call to Chancellor Sylvia Concepcion immediately after the meeting. Mr. Ramirez returned on 11 June to continue his talks with UP Mindanao.

Visit of Army Reserve Command chief

UP Mindanao received a high-level delegation from the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the person of Brigadier-General Alexis Tamondong, who visited the campus on the 3rd of June 2014. He was received by UP Mindanao officials led by Chancellor Sylvia Concepcion, VC for Administration Antonio Obsioma, Office of Extension and Community Services Director Prof. Erwin Protacio, and College Business Manager Cherrylyn Cabrera. The General was accompanied by local ARESCOM officers Col. John Oberio and Col. Renwick Rutaquio and their staff. The meeting was graced with the presence of UP Diliman students and UP Vanguard members Caithline Bo Laguesma and Fatima de la Cruz who had offered their assistance to the upcoming Disaster Risk Reduction Training to be started in the following week.

Visit of Dr. Mark Albert Zarco for CE 10

UP Mindanao held a General Education Meeting with Deans and Department Chairs on 6 May 2014 on the occasion of a visit by Dr. Mark Albert M. Zarco (front, center), a faculty member of UP College of Engineering, and Ace S. Geronimo (back, left-most), Project Research Assistant. Dr. Zarco presented a General Education course with course number CE 10 and the descriptive title "Disaster Mitigation, Adaptation, and Preparedness Strategies" which he proposed for UP Mindanao to offer its students. The GE course is a product of the Biodiversity and Resilience (BaR) Program Project C1 of which Dr. Zarco is a Project Co-Leader.
