February 2020 is the month of the 25th anniversary of the University of the Philippines Mindanao.

UP Mindanao was created through Republic Act 7889, signed by President Fidel V. Ramos on 20 February 1995.

In solidarity with the City Government of Davao in the enforcement of prudent measures discouraging the gathering of large crowds to prevent the possible transmission of COVID-19 (corona virus disease 2019), previously known as the 2019-nCoV ARD, the University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao is postponing all events related to the celebration of its 25th Founding Anniversary. These events are as follows:
• The Legacy Lectures Series, originally scheduled on 19 February 2020
• The Kick-off Program for the 25th Founding Anniversary, 20 February 2020
• The recognition ceremonies for employees and students, 21 February 2020
Regular activities will proceed with the appropriate precautionary measures as prescribed in the relevant advisories from the Department of Health (DOH Dept. Memo no. 2020-0056) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE Labor Advisory no. 04-20). The UP System has already released an advisory on the matter (available here) and a memo for the cancellation and non-issuance of travel authority to countries included in the government’s travel ban (Memo no. TJH 2020-05). Safeguarding the health and safety of our constituents and stakeholders is of primary concern to the university, and we enjoin everyone to take appropriate measures to this end.
