The University administration provided Libreng Sakay to university personnel, students, and their parents on February 20-24, 2023. This service was sponsored by alumni and provided by the regular UP Ikot multicabs. Libreng Sakay was available from the highway to campus at the start and end of class hours, and within the campus in between. Libreng Sakay was further extended from February 27 to March 2, 2023. The service extension period was sponsored by UPMin's BS Biology and former faculty members.

Libreng Sakay is among the welfare services which the alumni are supporting. Adopt-A-Scholar is another program that seeks donors for meals, transportation, and housing support for students.

The agreement was the product of discussions among the tricycle and motorcab operators and the UPMin transport committee, formed by Vice-Chancellor for Administration Leo Manuel Estana and chaired by Asst. Prof. Angelo Regalado. Manuel Chiong Jr. signed for the UP Tricycle Operators & Drivers Association (UP-TODA) and Alexander Cabillo for the New United Motorcab Drivers Association of Mintal (NUMODA).

Chairperson Bargamento told the drivers that the agreement would be a benefit to them, considering UPMin’s student population.

“This is a first for us, wherein UPMin entered into an agreement with our transport operators for the welfare of our UPMin constituents,” said Chancellor Murao.
