PAGSALOP SA ADLAW: CONTEMPORARY DANCES INSPIRED FROM THE PHOTOS OF GENE BOYD LUMAWAG is an annual contemporary dance theater concert of the University of the Philippines Mindanao Dance Ensemble. It will be held at the Abreeza Ayala Mall of Davao Event Center on May 5, 2016 from 6pm to 9pm.
Contemporary and Modern dance pieces will be used to translate photography into stories. Five (5) photographs of Mr. Lumawag will be showcased at the concert.

The interested public is invited to the launching of the Mindanao Development Studies Seminars (MDSS) on May 13-14, 2016, in Lorenzo Hall, UP Mindanao, Mintal, Davao City.
The MDSS aims to stimulate critical discussion about contemporary Mindanao development issues and challenges. It will serve as venue for presentation of Mindanao-development related seminars, lectures and research works of faculty and graduate students and other invited experts and professors from the Philippines and abroad.
On May 13, 2PM, students of the UPLB PhD in Development Studies program will present their dissertation proposals.
At 4PM is the Launching Ceremony to be led by UPLB Vice Chancellor for Instruction Portia Lapitan, Graduate School Dean Jose Camacho, and UP Mindanao Chancellor Sylvia Concepcion.
Seminar Lecture 1 will follow, to be given by Prof. J. Prospero de Vera, faculty member of the National College of Public Administration and Governance and UP Vice President for Public Affairs.
On May 14, 10:30AM, will be Seminar Lecture 2 to be given by Dr. Gambhir Bhatta, Asian Development Bank Technical Advisor on Sustainable Development and Climate Change.

May 2016 in UP Mindanao is the end of the Second Semester of Academic Year 2015-2016. Undergraduate classes end on 14 May and Final Examinations are on 16-21 May.
In the Master of Management tri-mester program, registration and classes for the 3rd Term begins on 7 May.
In research, a seminar on post-harvest handling of agricultural produce will be given to the Obu-Manuvu workers in the agro-forestry project in the Marilog-Arakan Land Reservation. On 13-14 May is the Mindanao Development Studies Seminar in UP Mindanao, organized by the UP Los Banos Graduate School.
International engagements will be in Bogor Agricultural University (Indonesia) for a capacity-building course on synthetic biology, and in Busan, Korea where anthropology students will present research papers in the 7th World Fisheries Congress.
In extension and public service, the UP Mindanao Dance Ensemble performs "Pagsalop sa Adlaw", a dance-concert based on the photos of Gene Boyd Lumawag, on 5 May, 6pm, in Abreeza Mall, Davao City.
On 7 May, communication arts students will hold a seminar for the community on managing and avoiding heat-stroke, to be held at the Bgy. Mintal Hall at 1pm. The interested public are welcome to attend or observe all events.
